Tell Me a Story

Image result for book group

This is a blog where you can talk about whatever you are reading.

What you think about it?

What are you enjoying about it?

What don't you enjoy?

Any recommendations?

(Please give reasons for all of your opinions)

I am currently reading  'Good Omens', which is an apocalyptic story, jointly written by Sir Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman (Of 'Instructions' fame).

As a big fan of Sir Terry I found this book unusually difficult to get into. It is so different to his normal style and, although I could still feel him in the words, it just wasn't what I was expecting.

However, I followed my own rule of giving every book 50 pages and eventually it started to pick up for me.

The footnotes are particularly funny (as is always the case with Sir Terry) but I began, also, to enjoy the touches which clearly came form Gaiman.

All in all I'm looking forward to my bedtime book each night and I would recommend it to very able, mature readers with an understanding of Christian doctrine and a large sense of humour.

6RL's Book Corner

I would like to 'jazz up' our tired old, uninspiring book corner.

Book corners should make you want to get comfy and disappear into a book.

I would like you to come up with designs for our book corner.

I love strange and wild ideas but try to think of things we could actually do.

These are a few pictures I found of some really nice book areas.

Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions for ours.

(If anyone has any old comfy (clean) cushions or things along those lines, and you would like to donate them, please bring them in. Always ask whomever is at home before donating anything to school)

Light Up the World!

How many AA batteries would it take to power all the light in all the houses of the whole world?

I'm not interested in a correct answer, as there isn't one.

I'm interested in how you try to solve the problem.

Explain all of your thinking.

(This is a chance to show off some logical thinking)

Spirit of the Olympics

As we have been looking at the Ancient and Modern Olympic games, I have been thinking about the 'spirit' of the games.

What is it that make the Olympics so special?

Why does it feel so emotional?

Why do people care so much?

What does it mean to people?
I would like you to look for answers to these questions. They could be your own answers or someone else's.

Can anyone find a picture which they believe encapsulates the 'spirit' of the Olympics?
