Contrasts Poem

Image result for contrasts
For this weeks homework I would like you to practice your skill of punctuating with semi-colons. I would like a poem made up of lines containing a semi-colon.
No lists please.
I want to see that you can use a semi-colon to show contrast between the clauses of a sentence. Remember you cannot use one instead of a comma just because you want to.
E.g. 'She was clever; he was an idiot.'
       'Outside the sun was shining; Inside his mind thundered with regret.'

  1. (this poem is kind of sad I guess)

    Her life was a fairytale; mine is a gruesome reality.
    She sings to the birds on her windowsill; I sing to the voices that plunder my mind.
    Her eyes shine with happiness; I hide my emotions behind a fake smile.

    The flowers twinkle in her presence; the skies thunder as I walk.
    The crowds throw roses as she bounces past; they boo and yell as I cower in terror.

    All for one simple reason.

    She is a princess; I am a human.

  2. The cat was smart;
    The dog was dumb;
    The horse was big;
    The mouse was small

    The sun was shining;
    The rain was pouring;
    The clouds were fluffy;
    The Stars were shining

    The water was fresh;
    The fire was sharp;
    The ice was smooth;
    The ground was rocky

    1. I like the fact that it started with pure fact that they were different, but at the end I really felt that it was the 'he' speaking, and he was actually quite sad about something, and it really changed the atmosphere of the poem- it was almost like a story. Good job Aaron :)
